2012-01-03 Upcoming Events
I'm not feeling well today (allergies causing chest congestion) so today's output is smaller than usual.
I'm excited about this week's Wednesday Men's Discussion (the last few have been phenomenal, forcing us to fit even more chairs into that same space). Next Tuesday on the 10th, we have a Bootblacking/Leather care seminar. I will be out at Saturday's BearDance (health permitting), and there are new faces shifting in and out in charge of local events. More info about that soon.
-=-=-=-=- Butt Straps
In response to my concerns in
last week's social column, I am assured by multiple people that the one-inch butt-strap (worn with chaps) is not kosher according to San Diego's Victorian laws:
I'll get you the Municipal code the cop was right and I've been trying to tell people this for YEARS. The 1 inch strip is only good in LA in SD both butt cheeks have to be covered, and I don't know the code in SF but I believe all you have to wear up there is shoes.

The law actually states that the buttocks must be covered. It isn't a 1 inch strap down the crack. It has been that way as long as we have been in San Diego. The same is true of women's breasts, they must be fully covered from the top of the aeroela to the bottom of the breast. The cop was fully within the law to demand the guy to cover up.

My response? This foolishness will fall by the wayside as time goes by. The old shame-based cultural religious crap isn't going to be around much longer. The Internet is breaking down the old ignorance and fear about each others' bodies, and once things change for the better, they are extremely unlikely to shift back toward ignorance.
