Subject: [SDLLC-NewsAndInfo] Baton Rogue II Softball Challenge! We are all encouraged to come out and play on Saturday!
We need cheering squads, softball players, and lots of folks wanting to have a good time.
We are meeting at 5:00 for a picnic lunch followed by the game which starts at 6:00. The location is Morley feild at the end of Texas street. The fundraiser is to benefit the Tom Homann/Harvey Milk scholarship fund. The picnic costs $5 and is worth every penny. See you on Saturday. Jake

Subject: [SDLLC-NewsAndInfo] Review of Yesterday's Bat 'n Rouge Event

If you didn't attend the "Bat 'n Rouge" benefit softball game pitting the Imperial Court against the local Leather Tribe, you really missed out on a lot of laughter and friendship.

Officially, the score was 29 to 10 in favor of the local leather kinkmeisters, but as far as I could tell, the REAL score was right around Eighty-Six Gazillion to Umpty Squat before the score sheet was discreetly abandoned. Of course, it couldn't have been easy for Empress Ophelia to make it around the bases in those clunky (but chic!) high heels.

After local candidate for City Council Toni Atkins threw out the first ball, the hijinks started and never stopped. As one of the official photographers, it was a terrible chore for me to try and capture all of the action, because there were mock-wrestlings, wigs thrown in the dust, bases being stolen left and right, and blatant attempts to kiss up to the umpire, and all of it happening simultaneously, everywhere, all of the time. The tacky appeals for sympathy, horrendous fashion mishaps and sudden eruptions of butchness in the Imperial Court's team-members barely offset the Leather Tribe's serious ass-kicking skills - We mowed 'em down!

By the end of the game, we were all weak from joyful laughter, and the final picture on the website listed above tells the real story - Everybody who participated was a champion! According to the organizers, this event will be held again next year, and I urge everybody to take the time off and attend "Bat 'n Rouge III" - It's a spring tradition that sets a light and playful tone for the rest of the year!

I'll be posting the rest of the pictures as soon as I get 'em from Carla, because I used her camera most of the time. There are a lot more pictures on the way, and they're really good!
