GLO Formal Leather DinnerPhotos by Papa TonyTuesday, January 25, 2000 |
I attended the GLO (Gay Leathermen Only) Formal Leather Dinner at the Fiddler's Green Restaurant last night:
Fiddler's Green Restaurant (in Point Loma)
This establishment is owned by the same folks who own the Hole in
Point Loma, and they rolled out the red carpet for us. The other
diners at this high-class establishment occasionally cast sidelong
glances at the gay leathermen laughing and hugging at our end of the
dining-room, and it was an incredible, generous and open-hearted
gesture for the staff and owners to treat us like any of their other
valued patrons. We were first-class customers at all times, and the
food and service reflected this attitude.
There was a choice of two entrees for our group, and either one would
have been a fine choice - I got to sample both. The prime rib was so
tender that many folks were commenting as they used their
butter-knives to slice it. The salmon was PERFECTLY prepared, tender,
and right in that zone of perfection of not being over- or
under-cooked.
The servers were attentive and chatty, and the group was able to have
a carefree, jolly and successful event.
This same restaurant will be hosting the Victory Brunch on Sunday,
February 27th (the day after the Mr. San Diego Leather Contest) from
10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This is a brief blurb that I wrote elsewhere:

Help welcome the new Mr. San Diego Leather 2000 at a fine restaurant,
surrounded by the biggest names in the leather community. Wear your
finest, formal leathers or fetishwear in pride and honor, knowing
that our local community has shown its best side once again. The
folks at Fiddler's Green (who also own The Hole) are going all-out
for this event, and promise to serve up a truly fine buffet. I can't
imagine how it can be better than last year's!
As always, last night's event came together because of the hard work
Wolfgang Martin dedicated to it over the last few months. This was
the sixth such dinner in the last year and half, and these events run
so smoothly that all that the attendees have to do is relax and
enjoy. There were many new faces at this event, and everyone blended
and mingled with good cheer.
