Ken is a native Las Vegan and attended Clark and Rancho High Schools graduating some time ago. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education. He then attended the University of Nevada. Las Vegas and earned a Master of Education degree in special education.

Ken currently teaches at Eldorado High School in the north eastern part of the city. Among the classes he teaches are United States Government, English, mathematics, chemistry, and human anatomy.

Ken is an ordained Deacon of the Southern Baptist Church and for many years served as the Minister to the Deaf. He also did free lance interpreting. His most memorable interpreting job was for a Bear and Bear Cub of the Year Contest, at the DC Eagle.

In 1990, Ken was honored by then President George Bush, Sr. as the recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. The first such award to be given in the state of Nevada. He was again honored by the Clark County School District as their Special Educator of the Year in 1991 and 1992.

Ken officially came out of his closet in 1991 and within 2 years had organized the Nevada State Education Association's Gay and Lesbian Caucus. An organization dedicated to making life easier for gay and lesbian teachers in Nevada. Among its greatest accomplishments to date is the securing of domestic partner insurance benefits for same sex couples. Ken has continued organizing educators and community members by assisting in establishing a chapter of the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Educators' Network in Southern Nevada (GLSEN). They are currently initiating a fight against the Boy Scouts of America in using the public buildings while holding an anti-homosexual membership policy.

Ken is currently the treasurer for the Clark County Education Association, a member of the Board of Directors for the Nevada State Education Association, a past member of the Resolutions Committee for the National Education Association, and a member of the Together In Politics Coordinating Council.

In his spare time Ken sings and is sometimes a featured soloist with the Las Vegas Gay & Lesbian Chorus. He is currently serving on their Board of Directors in the position of Vice-president. Look for him in the choral presentation of "Some Gay Enchanted Evening" on May 20th and 21st, 2001.

An avid traveler, Ken has visited Europe, toured Japan extensively, vacationed in Singapore and Hong Kong. His favorite cities are Paris, San Francisco, Toronto, Washington DC, and Montreal. Last year he joined hundreds of thousands of Gay men, Lesbians and straight allies marching in the Millennium March on Washington representing the NSEA GLC.

Ken is a member of the Leather Uniform Club of Las Vegas and an Associate member of the Chicago Hellfire Club. He plans on yet another adventure in May to International Mr. Leather 2001 in Chicago and the notorious Inferno XXX on September 6-12, 2001, hosted by the Chicago Hellfire Club.

Ken lives with two basenjis, also known as the barkless dogs - Echo and Thunder are his kids.
